Gold Creek loop
Awesome work on the smaller loop up at Canaan by Karl and Frankie this week, (and Steve) went up their today and was blown away, certainly progressed heaps since the other week. As you can see Karl is now in the paddock heading to the bit of bush that leads down to the car park.
In terms of races, this loop could be added on to the main loop as a way of avoiding the road altogether!

TOTS Canaan loop race
A great day, was had by all up at Canaan downs for the last leg in the TOTS xc race. Well done to all who took part and everybody who helped make it happen.......click the link below to see photos from the race..
Last Sunday we held another club 'Ladies Ride' up at Canaan Downs. The new tracks are awesome - thanks Karl and Frankie and everyone who has made it happen.
We had gorgeous day and an awesome turn-out with 10 girls carv'en it up out there! Lori gave it everything and got air (on Mark's bike) over a log jump, Mandy got best wipe out of the day - over the handle bars getting too excited coming down big burn, and it was superb seeing all you girls out there having fun! :0)

Frankie makes it nine and a half tenths round the Rameka project and falls off in to the softest landing anywhere on the track....nice one Frankie!
Good work to all the project workers, it's coming on a treat, nice ride, and good fun doing laps!!
Canaan loop
A big up has to go to Karl and all the contributions and effort put in by everyone on the Canaan loop, its already an awesome ride without having really been ridden in yet! It's nice to be back!

Thursday down hill
Well the first run of this season got off to a flying start with a few good get offs.

South Island Secondry School Champs.
Blake Delaney and Reece Potter represented Golden Bay High School at the South Island Secondary School MTB Champs in Blenheim 9 & 10 Oct (3 others pulled out - pykers). Weather was cold wet & windy which didn't make for a pleasant time between races. The event included a X/C on Friday 
(3 by 6km laps), and Uphill & DH on the Saturday. Blake's brakes jammed on and he pulled out of the X/C at the end of the second lap. Reece finished all 3 in 20th place with 1 hr 28 min - winner 1 hr 08 min and last 2 hr 14 min with about 20 DNF's. The mud was atrocious and the best strategy would have been a carbon fibre bike and to run with it over the shoulder.

The D/H event had no contingency for rain and when they couldn't get vehicles up to the top of the course they required all bikers push their bikes up for practice, runs and timed race. This wasn't going to work so they abandoned the seeding runs at the last minute and held just the timed run. Unfortunately Reece had a spectular wipeout on his one race and finished around 6th or 8th (results not out yet). I was standing in a particulary muddy patch and saw 3 over the handle bars, and another 5 dissapparing into the gorse including Reece. Reece was really disappointed as his main rivals in Nelson, who he can normally beat , came in around 4th - next year !!
All in all a great event with lots of students and a good learning curve - roll on 2010.

the wheels are turning on the cannan track i were rideing on sunday around
the cannan loop track off wainui saddle and seen another 7 riders .
the track is settleing down last and is in good shape. 14.4 km on the gps .
we need people to help out on the 7th 8th nov to get involved setting out the
track fo the race on the 8th,so come up and help out . call bruce on 0276222228
and come and have a go.
