Gold Creek Loop work starts at Canaan
At last we get to start digging the 2nd bush section of the Gold Creek loop up at Canaan, the bad news is it's winter! After last year Karl vowed to never work another winter at Canaan, Sorry Karl.....
Thanks to the Lion foundation we are going to have an awesome bit of singletrack not just for kids, but this is going to be a fun ride for everyone.......
Feel free to drop in up there, we could be there for another month, and it's always good to have visitors, ......and cake!

Gibbs Hill Girl's Ride
We kick started a great winter of 'Girl's Rides' with a lap of Gibbs Hill last Sunday. It was our day, the clouds parted, the rain stopped and we rode in perfect sunshine with clear views of the end of the spit and out to the snowy Kaikoura Rages. We had a heap of laughs and fun with a group of 11 girls (we split into two groups for the DOC section of track). I'm looking forward to the next one for sure!
Next Girl's Ride: Sunday 27th June: Project Rameka & One Klick Ally - Meet at the bottom of Rameka Creek Rd or contact Mel on 027 611 8886. All levels welcome.
'ONE KLICK'
Work on the bottom section alongside Rameka Creek Road continues. It is hoped that in the next few weeks we will have One Kilometre of track off the Road. We have recently solved the problem of the hazardous pipe which many of us (including myself) have come to grief on by losing the front wheel. You will now be able to by pass this, or take the 'Weka flyover' which now protects the above mentioned pipes!
6 hour event next month
If anyone is interested in doing the 6 hour team race on 20th June at Rabbit Island, let me know. I had planned a track building day on that day, but that could be changed.

Don't worry about taking a tent, we will use the Jennian/GB mtb club tent as used at the Mystery ride!

All go up at Canaan...
We've just finished marking out the last part of the Canaan main loop. The final 2km of the main loop will by-pass the road and come out of the bush into the Harwoods Hole Car Park. There will also be an option to ride the Gold Creek loop back to the Car Park too, signaling the end to riding the downhill dirt road into the Car Park. It promises to be a 'Rollercoaster' ride with awesome views looking across the bush to Harwoods Hole, taking in classic Canaan geography, natural berms, and the odd rock squeeze.
It will be completely in keeping with the rest of the main loop, and we already know this section will become the icing on the cake to what is already a classic XC course.
Endura race team
Incase anyone is interested, Jack Bauer is racing in Europe at the moment as part of the Endura Racing squad, and has been picked as one of a team of six to take on the Rhone-Alpes Isere Tour which is a four stage, 600km hilly road ride, south east of Lyon in France. You can follow it through the website which is here:http://www.enduraracing.com/Item.aspx?dept_id=5&item_id=87
Also worth checking out his profile on the squad page and seeing what his favourite route is!
