The Backyard Series Xmas Party

Club Xmas party. Get out there and practice your DROPS, PUMPS and SWITCHBACKS for the worlds first.....GBMTB Back Yard Series!!!

THE CONCEPT: There are a few keen people out there who have been building their own MTB tracks in their backyards. So what we plan is to spend an afternoon trying out 3 of these tracks and each getting our "Best Timed Lap" on each track. At the end of the day there will be a trophy awarded for the inaugural "GBMTB Back Yard Series" (not necessarily for the best time....) All going well we can make this a regular fun day out. Remember this is a social day out, NOT a full on organised event!

WHEN: Sun Dec 4th, This will be an all afternoon and into the evening affair.

WHERE:

TRACK One: 11.30am at Rich Turners "Downhill" track on East Takaka Road. BBQ lunch. Bring BBQ food to share. Depart @ 2.30pm.

TRACK Two: 3pm at John and Mandy's Tight and Twisty "Dunny Hill" track at 38 Rototai Road. Pre dinner "Wine and Cheese/Gin & Tonic Sundowners" on the deck. Bring Wine and cheese etc etc type snacks to share. Depart 5.30pm.

TRACK 3: 6pm onwards an Karl and Frankies "Pump Track" on the main road out of town. "Pizza and Pump-track" Bring Pizza (or components of) to share.

You will need to bring: Bike, helmet etc and food to share for the above meals. BYO drinks. You will need to sort your own transport between tracks, there may be a possibility of a van and bike trailer being available on the day.

NO SERIOUS BIKE CLOTHING ALLOWED so get dressed up to the 9's and RIDE!!!

Pack Track link up

The last piece of the Pack Track jigsaw was completed at 5pm yesterday, a monumental effort by all Club members and volunteers. We're sure it will be a well ridden and received track (infact 6 or 7 people came through yesterday, even though it wasn't complete at the time!) Watch out for the official opening on 11th December which will coincide with the opening of the next completed stage of 'Great Expectations' on Project Rameka.

Canaan Race day - part of Nelson Cycle Festival - 2nd October

Sunday the 2nd of October, there is a short and a long race up at Canaan.
Its part of the Nelson Cycle Festival. Lots of prizes, food and fun.
Put it in your diary. It should be a very good day. If you were at the TOTS event last year. This will be a little like that but more of it...and there will be a short race for younger or less superhuman riders!!!
We have been fine tuning the course and it should prove to be an awesome ride!

The subs are due for another year.
Please join up again, we have lots of things planned for the warmer months. We need your subs to keep the club going and creating those tracks. Drop into the Revolution or Escape, or get hold of Kim or Rob to sign up for another year.

Well done Reece!

So Reece bags 30th position in his first World Champs outing on one of the World's notorious and steepest DH courses anywhere!. Awesome! Well done fella, from all of us here. His team mate from Nelson Reuben Olorenshaw managed to get up to 8th spot. In the Elite Men main event, Sam Blenkinsop finished 3rd and Brook Macdonald finished 9th. Go the Kiwis!!
